On May 11th, 2024, members of the Kitten Kafe hosted their first anniversary celebration. The organization is run by a group of women who are passionate about finding homes for cats. Attendees were able to enjoy food, baked goods, face painting, crafts and of course fluffy kittens to play with.
Many people came throughout the day to celebrate the anniversary, donating food to the kittens, purchasing food for themselves and spending time with the kittens.
Students who know of the cafe enjoy spending their time visiting to help de-stress, especially with the looming final exams. It doesn’t hurt that so many of the kittens are extremely cute. Generally, visting the Kitten Kafe is free; it is a fun and relaxing outing with friends who are fellow cat and/or animal enthusiasts.
Leigh Lampert, the founder and president of Cedarcrest Fosters, started a blog detailing her experience rescuing cats. The blog expanded, eventually becoming a rescuing organization which has continued to grow, just like her love for helping out these kittens.

Ashley, who has been involved with Cedarcrest Fosters, was present at the anniversary event and has been helping foster kittens with the organization.
“We have a lot of really sweet [kittens], and it is a great opportunity to meet other people who enjoy the same thing,” she said. “I mean, we have groups that have been coming since we opened, and we see them every weekend.”
“They come in, four or five of them, in a group, they bring their coffee, they sit and cuddle [the kittens]. The people will just cuddle the brand new ones until they get social.”
Over the past year, the organization has been able to find forever homes for hundreds of foster kittens. The event’s atmosphere was joyous, with members of the community deciding to stop by and enjoy a day with kittens.
Anyone is welcome to stop by their location, donate supplies, or foster a kitten.
