Every semester at the end of the marking period, the Counseling Center hosts a de-stress event. On May 9th, 2024, Chalk It-Up took place in the Wicomico Room of the Guerieri Student Union. Attendees of the event were offered free food, shirts, essential oils, stress ball making and there was a chalk drawing contest.
Karli Merson, an SU student majoring in Elementary Education, has enjoyed past Counseling Center held events. Although she didn’t know the event was going on Thursday, she decided to attend when she found out.
“I was so excited as I knew a couple of the dogs from when I came last time,” she said. “I was so excited that I almost ran in because puppies!”

Several of the Counseling Center events are made enjoyable by the Pets on Wheels organization. All the dogs are loved by students as they try their best to collect all the “dog cards”, collectible cards for each of the dogs.
Such activities are beneficial for mental health, particularly as students prepare for their upcoming final exams.
